Synopsis:
A precious and powerful artifact is stolen from its wielder and sent to Cassandra. Driven by dreams and pushed by the unknown, she is compelled to use it, and it throws her and her friend Todd into a new, dangerous world.
In this world, chaos is a way of life for its native denizen Wings, a creature rendered into myth and legend due to being hunted to the point of genocide for their power. His adoptive father, Lefitan, a brave dwarven healer, risks life and limb to keep his son safe, constantly moving him each time they are discovered or betrayed by those seeking riches or power.
Through the power of the artifact, Cassandra is transformed into a Kentaur, a sworn enemy of the humans, and she must adapt to her new reality. Not long after Todd and Cassandra are thrown into this world, they are set upon by monstrous vlhane wolves, a species which once they set their sights on a target, never give up. Todd is injured, and they are saved by Wings who is fleeing the human army. Todd is separated from Cassandra, as human soldiers close in on them, and Cassandra is forced to flee with Wings as being caught by the army would mean certain death for both.
