I Vanquished in area on Mobile, here are some notes / observations.
An area* oops.
Phone: Samsung S22, Android v.16, nothing extra recent.
I had no extra accessories/peripherals, just the phone.
I cleared Ice Cliff Chasms from Eye of the North to test out Mobile, as I knew it didn't demand intensive reaction time.
Time spent: about 1 hour
Battery spent: From 96% to about 66%, so around 30% used.
The screen really heated up during that time, especially the upper part (or left part where I moved).
Performance: Honestly about as smooth as you can get, I was surprised. Running around sometimes made me choppy, but otherwise buttery smooth. Just fine in combat.
Controls are definitely something else, you can pretty much only reliably target the closest enemy. No hotkeys means unreliable interrupt time (and tapping empty space on the screen by accident).
Moving around is easy and intuitive, easy to get out of bad areas (seeing the effect may be another story lol). I did not try to manage my heroes at all or try to flag them. That doesn't seem like it's quickly doable in time.
I didn't even try to manage inventory, I just grabbed everything and saved that for another day, lol.
Honestly, just having GW on the go is wild. I think this will be very fun for more laid-back casual content where you don't need to be at your A game, or when you don't need to manage a lot of inventory/hero stuff. Just log in and do quests and stuff. It works surprisingly well. Don't try PvP or anything lol
Some visual and UI hiccups, but none that overall ruined the experience. I know this is a trial run, so I'm quite pleased. Well done, ANet and 2Weeks!
Any questions, I guess? I didn't really do much other than the Vanquish.
Edit to add: I turned off my phone screen, and depending on how long I had it off, it either seamlessly returned to the game, or it said "disconnected, do you wanna try to reconnect?" And it managed to bring me back flawlessly.
I imagine it's a question of time.
I also completely turned off the app and closed it, then reopened immediately: same thing, I managed to reconnect in the area. Hurray!
Edit 2: file size atm is 1.57Gb. I then went and loaded Kamadan, Lion's Arch, Kaineng, and the size went up to 1.79Gb.
