Returning player.. overwhelmed by new options. Best overall hero team?

Hi all,

Returning after nearly 20 years. I am looking to build my team of heros, can anyone direct me to a solid team build that is fairly easy for most missions?

I am also playing my warrior/Rit - is 100b still solid?

Sorry I know this probably is posted a lot, but it's hard to say if builds are still relevant from old threads.

Any recommended videos to show newcomers to the series?

I'm trying to convince a few of my friends to buy Guild Wars Reforged and play through some of the campaigns with them. Are there are any videos on youtube you recommend that quickly showcase what the game is like that I can send them? I see a lot of reviews of the game, but nothing that really just breaks down the gameplay elements in a quick and concise manner while showcasing gameplay.

Meta adjustments following 24th June update - discuss

Hi all,

Given the interesting skill updates, I wanted to get your views on changes to the current meta team. I’d appreciate to see your ideas based on my below adjustments/team. Personally don’t use +5SR, so keep that in mind with below. I’ll go through it 1 hero at a time:

ST: remains the same for me. No difference for melee or caster player.
Build: ST, Displacement, union, shelter, BoC, Armor of Unfeeling, fallback, blocked res. I haven’t used spirit gift as it isn’t maintained outside of combat (*hint hint 2weeks*), though it is perhaps also a nice cover enchant. Signet of creation isn’t used well by heroes, so pass from me.

BiP: same for both caster and melee player. Does not change. I prefer blood bond over strip enchantment especially since buff on minions. Also a nice heal if a melee enemy dies in your backline and/or cover hex for Mesmer hexes. Life over recuperation, else you start the fight low on energy in your BiP, which seems suboptimal.
Build: BiP, Spirit transfer, MBaS, blood bond, life, SoLS, PwK, Spirit Light.

SoS: (nearly) same for caster and melee. Remains roughly the same, though splinter weapon gets cast on Minions more frequently since recent updates. So I consider bringing it for casters even.

Build: SoS, splinter weapon, Spirit Light, PwK, MBAS, Spirit Siphon, SoH + Arage for melee, bloodsong and lamentation for casters. Arage on casters doesn’t work great as you need to be surrounded by at least 2 enemies before heroes cast it. Lamentation is nice cover hex for Mesmer hexes. If you don’t want splinter weapon on casters go for rejuvenation.

Mesmers: for melee and caster the same. Little changes here imo. 3x esurge or 2x esurge and 1 panic. Enchanters conundrum seems cool, but hero AI doesn’t use it particularly well (yet? :))
Build: resurgence/panic, mistrust, CoF, unnatural signet, shatter hex, spiritual pain, power drain, 2x drain enchantment, 1x res. I prefer double drain enchant over 2 res and shift 1 res to ST blocked. Open to see other arguments, haven’t had big issues with this.

Now it gets interesting: I think the last spot used to always be the ineptitude Mesmer. However, given the rise of minions, it could become different:

MM: small differences between caster and melee. I understood from Chthon that Order of Undeath (OoU) is used more frequently and hits solid. So I actually think that OoU should be picked over fallback/incoming combination. The faster casting time will let MM lag behind less and so double IMS might not even be necessary anymore. Still is a decent heal, but refreshing now seems more important than healing minions.
Build: OoU, Bone fiend, vamp horror, SoLS, masochism, fallback, Stand your ground (SYG) and for melee/ranged/para find their weakness (FTW). Currently testing whether SoLS can be dropped for withering aura. Seems worthwhile for some builds + energy management of MM is better with cheaper bone fiends. For casters I’d go with putrid bile or never surrender. You can always choose to run double IMS MM, but I think the increased hero usage of OoU + damage nerf of mesmers can make this a worthwhile trade off.

Of course there is the ineptitude Mesmer, stays the same for melee and casters:
Build: Ineptitude, wandering eye, accumulated pain, signet of clumsiness, drain enchantment, arcane conundrum, Fallback and SYG.

The idea is that, depending on area, you switch out what you need. Many corpses and need melee hate? Drop 1 esurge and take MM with Inept Mesmer. No corpse is 4x mesmers. Little melee threat? Go Mm with 3x dom Mesmer.

One can also consider dropping a dom Mesmer for tclap ele, but I am not yet convinced it performs better than 3x Mesmer.

What are your guys thoughts? Please feel free to drop any ideas that come up, or explain what trade offs you consider that aren’t mentioned above.

Cheers and enjoy!

You wake up and you're a dev charged with creating an alternative to ST Prot

Just for fun.

So, a party-wide ward that won't get dispelled like the monk enchants. (Maybe there are more alternatives, I'm a noob)

What class would you give it to, what attribute, etc?

I'm not too in the know about builds, but my gut really wants to make it a nature spirit of some sort.

Turning it into a minion master thing would be cool, like and elite skill to make the minions into 'shelters' that die for it. Honestly might mesh too well with necro, heh.

For folks who aren't understanding the new hero AI update: calling out targets (holding ctrl + clicking on an enemy) is much more important now

Your heroes will still go straight for your called target, but the difference is now if they get blocked, slowed, or stuck they won't just stand there and be useless - they'll attack the blocker/nearby enemies or attempt to re route until they can get back on track.

This is a huge improvement over the old system where anything in their way would prevent them from doing anything at all, but if you don't actively utilize the call out function you'll notice that they don't just automatically switch to your target as quickly.

If you're not on PC be sure to map target call out to an easily usable button.

Facetanking Tahnnakai Temple HM - Paragon way 14min [Guild Wars]

I'm probably spending way too much time on this, but I finally found it. The best Paragon shout. It's ''Fall Back'', party-wide, has no cast time, no Adrenaline and almost instantly resolves, triggering all the Echoes.

This team build is a bit too focused on Tahnnakai Temple, so I didn't bother much with hex or condition removal and instead went all-in on damage. But I think this is the way forward when it comes to Paragon teams.

The game feels different

There was a small patch on July 2nd that is not in the wiki update notes.

Since then it just feels like HM is a little easier and I've been getting rare skin drops more regularly. Anyone else feeling this?

I can't back this up with data, so purely speculation.

Sold my soul to Dhuum in exchange for...

Well that was a rollercoaster of a trip.

One of our team died and that caused their army of bone horrors to turn aggressive.

I was had already slightly lowered health as we were Charr slaying, and forgetting I had Frenzy on I hit Healing Signet. The moment I did, two bone horrors hit me simultaneously, each dealing 200 dmg!

Instant death, at level 18. I was furious... Dhuum of course appeared to take my soul away.

Carried on to complete the dungeon and Dhuum ended up paying me for my soul.

For those wanting to know, this was only like my 7th run of the Dungeon!

Harder Hard Mode: Undocumented Enemy Recharge Reduction

enemies in hard mode currently have a substantial recharge reduction.

i don't think this was discussed in any patch notes? that's quite a big change to slip in.

edit: JustARandomBoringGuy in the comments has supplied evidence of this being in game for a long time.

Gw notifications

Would be nice to start having notifications about weekly events and special events in our phone. What do you reckon? People will be even more engagef to the game and easier to not miss anything. I am exhausted receiving notifications from my other games for stupid payable content 🤣

I hate this game :/

The last enemy was a stupid fucking worm and it went underground and somehow died outside the map (it even dropped gold) but for some reason didn't count for the vanquish and now I've wasted an hour vanquishing this horrible, unfun junundu wurm area. I want my goddamn zaishen coins and 2k plat sent to me via carrier pigeon or I'm suing the devs for criminal negligence due to designing an enemy that's so stupid and bad.

Idk why I let people scare me with roj/dd update notes

Tahnnakai Temple in hardmode feels about the same so idk what the doom and gloom was about. Flag the heroes apart, and use one hero to lure the mobs to party.

Any updates on Steam Login integration for mobile?

Anyone hear about any timeline updates for us being able to use our steam login for mobile? Heard originally on a post a couple of weeks before US launch that it was maybe 1-2 weeks but there hasn’t been any news.

Toolbox

Hey! I'm a returning player and literally just found out about GW Toolbox++

I installed it and love how handy and convenient it is but I noticed my game randomly crashes now and if I don't launch it my game is fine.

Anyone else had/having the same issue?

I didn't expect them to still have my original characters

I'll definitely be starting a new character though. It's been years since I last played this and will need to re-learn the mechanics over again.

Melandhuum, continue or start anew after the unfortunate end?

After 136 hours, being done with the campaigns of NF, Factions and EoTN, reaching Survivor 3, farming all the mats/ plat for the Elite Exotic Armor and farming _a lot_ of runes in WoC... my Melandhuum Assassin died... to stupid stairs in Zen Daijun HM.

I hate those stairs. after the second cloud and in front of the Ranger Boss :(
And now i have an inner turmoil if i should continue with the character only as Melandru to get a second GWAMM (first one was back in the Day) or try again with another class (Rit, Derv or War). What do you guys think?

Melandhuum is fun, but the dhuum part makes it really, really stressful. I reached my initial goal of Survivor R3 with dhuum, but... i feel so sad.

Is pvx updated from the latest update?

After the recent updates I'm wanting to get back into GW but I was wondering what the best resource is for the latest build, going in with melandrus and dhuums, would love updated resources.
