I’ll be 25 this summer. Got let go from my prev job with a manager from hell (good all things considered, got 2 months extra pay, the quarterly bonus and my PTO paid out). Biggest thing was that job had no HR to hold anyone accountable.

Been job hunting and interviewed to this position; 1 phone screening and 1 in person interview. This position is for an admin position (like my previous job) but in a completely different industry. Got the job offer last week, waiting to hear back for the benefits. It’s also at a small company with no clear HR. Pay is comparable to my last role.

So it’s that OR I take a gamble and try to work a seasonal position in a popular vacation getaway place in my state. Nothing lined up yet. I’ve always wanted to work in this area but never had a good chance, and don’t think I will for much longer since typically seasonal employees are college age or a little older. Not worried about the pay right now, I’ve got a lot saved up.

Logically I know I’d be kinda dumb to not take this full time position. But I’ve never been someone to take risks, always did things by the book and it’s landed me a boring life. I want a little excitement in my 20’s, and I think I can afford it. Mainly worried about the resume gap. Any advice?

I’ll be 3 years out of college this spring, and I just got fired from my first job out of college about a month ago. Shitty manager and I just could not get along, I was going to put my 2 weeks in regardless they just beat me to the punch. But the boss was chill about it and is giving me 2 months of income “in between jobs”. Well I was already job hunting during then and have saved up an emergency savings of 6+ months worth of expenses.

Anyways moving forward, I’ve applied to jobs and had some interviews. Prev job was admin in financial planning, which is the track I thought I wanted to go on since high school and college, but after this last shitty job I’m not so sure. Applied to admin jobs via indeed and landed an interview in an admin job for a B2B car components sales company. Small mom and pop company, a little too similar to my last one (biggest complaint for my last company was lack of HR).

Somehow I BS’d my way through the interview process (I should mention now that I applied and interviewed as if I was still employed.) and just got an VM and email extending with a job offer. Throughout this interview process and month of employment, I’ve reconsidered what I want to for the rest of my life. Still not sure. But I’m getting around to the idea of working seasonally on Mackinac Island. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do but never took the leap due to COVID and needing to intern in my industry. I haven’t put anything out, but I’m 90% sure I could get something.

So I’m stuck. I know if I ask my family, they’ll tell me to take the 9-5 job. If I ask my friends they’ll tell me to go after the seasonal jobs on Mackinac. Money really isn’t an issue yet, but I’m worried about long term. Will working a seasonal job like this be bad for my resume? Is the job market and industry gonna be so fucked in the next few years from AI that this B2B place will go down and I’ll be fucked regardless? Looking for any advice and options for a chronic over-thinker.
