Sequel Haters Ruined Star Wars

I swear I just met the most committed sequel trilogy hater alive.
Friend of a friend works somewhere inside Disney marketing and apparently there’s this older guy who has spent YEARS blaming the sequels for “ruining the brand.” Dude allegedly climbed the corporate ladder purely out of spite. According to them, every time someone pitched a big promo campaign for The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, this man would quietly redirect budgets into random legacy projects and keep insisting “the audience will show up organically.”

Meanwhile trailers barely get pushed, merch rollouts are weirdly tiny, and nobody can even spell Grogu’s name consistently on internal docs. One memo said “Grogo,” another said “Grubu,” and somebody in licensing apparently wrote “Grovu.” It’s like when Palpatine somehow returned.

The funniest part? The guy reportedly thinks if the movie underperforms, it’ll somehow “prove” fans only wanted the Original Trilogy forever. Actual Sith behavior.
So honestly, if you want more Mando-era movies and less corporate panic, this is probably one of those “vote with your wallet” moments. Go see the movie opening weekend. Bring friends. Post good reviews even if you haven’t seen it, look up a synopsis to pass the test on rotten tomatoes. Algorithms and execs only understand numbers.

Don’t let one bitter sequel-era doomer decide the future of Star Wars because he’s still mad about 2017.
