The material isn't like EVA foam, it's way softer and like, spongier. It's ok if the answer is "you can't do much because of how fragile the foam is", I'll just be extra gentle handling it, and only really need it to survive 1 day at a con. Doing a really low budget, last minute-ish, not very canon accurate Mollymauk Tealeaf (Critical Role) and added a few coats of paint to an old kids' toy scimitar I had laying around so I'd at least have a scimitar. The blade is green under the grey so it's pretty obvious if the paint gets damaged. The foam itself seems to chip little bits off easily, which makes me think it might be hard to do much to protect it, but I figured I'd see what other people think. I have mod podge but idk if that would work. The ding in the second picture is from me accidentally scratching it a tiny bit with my nails while playing around with it. Not worried about it being perfect or anything, it's already very much lazy and not canon accurate. Con is in 2 weeks if that matters.
