This is my first time trying to make a cosplay outfit, so I thought this would be the best place to ask. How would I go about making things like the sword, shield, and the circlet? Also, would there be any way to achieve the hair or is that not possible?
So, I currently have plans for everything else except for the arms and boots. Gauntlets wouldn’t be hard to make out of foam, it’s the boots that make me worried how it’ll hold up on a day of a con. I don’t have a ton of EVA foam and I’d kinda like to save on money, but if anyone thinks it’ll look best than I can figure something out. I was thinking, instead of doing the whole thing out of foam, I could just do it out of the fabric from the dress I have. That way it matches perfectly, and it won’t take as much time. I’m just worried the flared sleeves/leg warmers won’t be easily recognizeable, but maybe I’m overthinking it.
I'm looking to buy some contact lenses for a cosplay of Albert Wesker from Resident Evil, and I was looking for recommendations for places to buy some orange contact lenses for it. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for where to buy them from (preferably not from America as I'm in the UK and shipping from there is very expensive from there at the moment). I have mild astigmatism, so I don't know if this will be a problem when it comes to wearing them? It's my first time buying and wearing contact lenses, so I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with full sclera coverings ones.

What apps are you using to tick off the stages of making your handmade cosplay? I've been using Progress Tracker (by Progress Tracker in Google Play) for almost a year now but lately it's been pissing me off everyday by lagging; making me turn on notifications when I open it and after then not opening at all, making me reinstall it every time; not showing completed tasks even when the filter shows 'all'.
I've been looking at alternatives but by now I haven't found any that would have the things I like while still being free. In Progress Tracker I liked that:
* it had unlimited task hierarchy (I could create sub-tasks for main tasks, and then sub-tasks for those initial sub-tasks, etc. etc.);
* it would show me a progress with percentage according to the amound of tasks/sub-tasks I ticked off (the progress bar was for every single task if it had sub-tasks but the alternative can have just an overall progress bar);
* I could pick a deadline and starting date
* it would show me how many days are left, and how many tasks i need to complete a day to make it in time (though the latter it's not that neccessary, just a nice bonus).
I'm not using MS Office/Google products for that purpose because they take up much more storage and, honestly, are not comfortable to view and especially use from a phone.
The app doesn't have to be cosplay-related, it just needs to have most of the features listed above. Anyone got recommendations of the apps they use? Thanks in advance 🙏
There's a convention a few months down and I wanted to try cosplaying Slop Caine specifically, and I'm trying to figure out what was used for the headpiece. I think it might be a toilet lid, but it seems a tad big for that, so I'm posting about it for other ideas.
I'm new to cosplay! Currently working on one for Zatanna. She's fairly underrepresented in DC stuff so there's not really a clear-cut "accurate" look for her outside of the big picture stuff (top hat, magician's coat, leotard, etc.). I'm taking parts from different looks of hers to create my ideal version because there isn't a particular adaptation that nails it for me. Is this type of "inaccuracy" frowned upon within the cosplay community or is it totally common?

My con is like july 9th so i need fast option, thz pigtail came pre crimped but they are crusty and not pretty, i started to do the front but the final result wasn’t really how i wanted but idk any other technique or what to do

As of late I’ve been searching for a plain light grey full-body suit meant for a cosplay I’m currently assembling and have been struggling with finding any affordable (preferably not exceeding $20-30 USD 😭)and straightforward options.
Half of the suits I come across have sizes dictated by height and I can’t help but feel skeptical that my 200-something pound self would be able to squeeze into a size small bodysuit without looking and feeling like a 3-day-old gas station taquito. I try looking at reviews and product descriptions to see if there’s a mention of weight/measurements or someone even relatively portly, but no dice.
If you’re a stout cosplayer or really anyone with experience with this stuff PLEASE spill the beans because any input will be much appreciated 🙏
I have tried and failed to make this 3 or 4 times. I’m new to making things with eva foam and I’m shit at it as expected. I’ve wasted so much foam already with these affronts to god and just want help/tips making this thing. I’m getting more and more frustrated with myself as I keep failing…
I was using a colored pencil to mark out the pattern to be cut, and was using an exacto knife to cut it. One obvious thing I see myself is I have to use a hard surface (Like the idiot I am, I tried cutting this out on a bed while holding the foam. I know I’m not going to be perfect, but wow are these awful attempts.

I've decided to be Varang for Halloween this year, but I don't wanna buy the bodysuits I've seen advertised, 1 because they're probably all drop shipped and 2 because it's going to be hot during Halloween (I live in NM lol). So does anyone have good body paint recs that will stay on for at least a few hours? And are preferably sweat resistant, I sweat like a pig </3 I've been considering Sunset Makeup, but any other recommendations would be welcome!

I’m needing some small rare earth/neodymium magnets to make a pair of detachable ears for a wig. (I can’t do a headband because of the style of the hair)
I got the ones pictured above but they weren’t strong enough to hold together through the wig. Would love some recommendations from those who have made something similar or have experience with magnets.

Hello everyone! I'm fairly new to cosplay having just gone to my first con a couple months ago. I absolutely love cosplaying it's one of my favorite things to do, I just wish I could do it more often. Do any of you have suggestions as to how I can get more use out of my cosplays, as well as meet people who also like to cosplay?
I've been looking at doing some Yu-Gi-Oh! stuff. I keep looking at the Dualist Kingdom gloves and I cannot for the life of me think of a way to make them without the big metal cuff being too big and loose OR it being way too small and not being able to get my hand in it. Ideally it could still use metal for the cuff. any ideas?
Okay so I’m looking to either build a knight or a monster can suit as a first time build for a convention.. any ideas as to materials and their cost? I’m not looking to spend a ton of money as my parents aren’t very interested in me attending and are pretty much against it. So any cheap ideas my minimum wage would handle? I'm planning on cosplaying Dante, specifically from DMC 5, at a con in October. I've been having an easy enough time finding most everything, already have the weapons. The only thing I've been having any trouble finding is a holster for the guns and sword. I've seen a few coats that have them built in but it's from the 3rd game. I'm willing to just fold and get that one but it's substantially more and if any of y'all have any tips for where I could find either custom-made or just holsters made for this kind of thing, any help would be appreciated!
So I ordered a costume from Simcosplay and my Nightwing mask came in broken. Do you guys have any advice on how to fix? I've tried hot glue but I think I have to buy a new gun lol.
