‘23 ER w/ 30k miles.. 12v started giving me troubles, checked with OBD and was at 6% SOC. Normally put 500 miles on per week so pretty heavily used, had only been 4 days since on a charger. Put on a charger and verified DCDC working correctly so must be the 12v battery. Set an appointment for this Friday to get new battery and take care of a few recalls out there, but wanted some piece of mind till driving again tomorrow.. the trickle charger I have kept thinking it was full with both leads connected so I unhooked the neg from 12v and put on a the trickle charger to let it sit for a few hours. Was going to rain so went to close the frunk and after pushing it down and hearing the first click, my heart stopped when I realize what I’ve done..
Doors locked, only fob was in the truck, use Paak but that’s useless, can’t get to emergency release latch inside. Aahhhh!
I was able to squeeze my fingers underneath and could feel the latch bar but couldn’t release it.. felt around some more and noticed there were some bolts. Grabbed the nearest towel and shoved it in there to avoid it from fully closing. Was able to get a 8mm on them and sloooowly back them out enough to make more wiggle room to get a bit easier and easier with every turn. Finally got them both out which let the latch bar drop and I could open again. Was a roller coaster 20 minutes for sure!
Obvious reminder, make sure your doors are unlocked or windows down before disconnecting the 12v.. and don’t manually shut the frunk after you do!
