Etruscan Pastiche, by me.

Etruscan Pastiche, by me.

This is my Roman pastiche which a pastiche is a little more than an homage or imitation it's my attempt at making an Etruscan artwork in the tradition. This painting would fit inside a tomb and the Etruscans believed the afterlife was a continuation of the earthly life and made happy idyllic scenes in their tombs. Their culture significantly influenced ancient Rome. The blue demon below is charon who is a psychopomp that guides the souls to the underworld. His hammers hold up the lower register of the painting.

I’m an artist creating work inspired by the ancient Mediterranean. My paintings draw from surviving frescoes at Pompeii, and I do my best to combine what we know from ancient sources with modern historical research. My goal is to create original artwork that replicates ancient Mediterranean artistic traditions! I also make TikToks were I explain the figures in the art, the Lares, Manes, Genii, and Penates. This piece was my attempt at creating an all-in-one domestic altar.
