My mom keeps taking offerings from my altar and uses them in Christianity.

I had these crystals that go on a necklace and decided to make an offering with them because i never wore them and they suited Aphrodite's aesthetic. After a few months (right now) i come home to one of them missing,i look up and see my mom wearing it,i explained to her that she can't take the stuff off of the altar because you can't take back an offering (is what I've heard) and she kept saying "no no you don't understand, that's my protection crystal with the power of jesus". This made me mad because i would never take something from her but she doesn't care enough to value my religion.

is there such thing as a hellenistic monotheist?

Ive tried hellenism many times but i just cant believe in the idea that there is more than one god. i love the religion though and it feels right is there anyone who believes that the gods are seperate parts of one god?

Thanatos (Death) Travel Altar

Hi all! I’m crafting a travel altar for Lord Thanatos so I can bring the altar with me when I visit cemeteries and graveyards. So far, I have divination tools such as an obsidian pendulum, a mini tarot deck, and soon I’ll be getting a small obsidian scrying mirror to add as well. I have Mulberry Leaf (I felt compelled to add it) with a mini note book, pen and a pencil, and clary sage essential oil. The small clear box as a tumbled black tourmaline crystal, my grandpas ivory tusk he gave to me before passing away, and a jaw bone piece I found at a nearby beach with my boyfriend.

I added a spoon for no particular reason other than it being copper. I have an antique skeleton key I added as well. I put coins in the small black bag as offerings as well as mini quartz pieces from my local river. And ofc there’s white and black candles. I put the bag plushie on the strap because I know bats are associated with the underworld and are like messengers. Lastly I have an obsidian grim reaper statue to represent Lord Thanatos and a reusable cotton bag that I use for teas. (I felt like I should put the cotton bag in the travel altar but I’m not sure why lol.)

Anyone have any recommendations on what I should add? I plan on going to the cemetery’s and graveyards yards to tend to the graves, leave offerings, communicate with spirits, and take pictures of the headstones for a website called “Find A Grave” where people request pictures of headstones for the deceased persons online obituary. Thanks in advance and have a blessed day! 🖤

Do the gods care if you have one you worship most often?

I have multiple gods and goddesses that I worship but sometimes I only have the energy to pray to one or two or I only have the time to make an artwork or an offering for one and I feel like the gods that I don't lean towards the most feel as if I'm ignoring them for that I don't worship them but that's not true I do still love and appreciate all of the gods and especially the ones that I specifically worship but I'm worried that they don't see that and they think that I'm playing favorites.

Who has been the most dependable and trustworthy God in terms of clearer communication and general understanding?

Hi all.

I’ve connected with a few Gods and deities of course they are all wonderful in their own ways. With some being a more vague, and difficult to understand while others being more clearer in how they communicate because it matters to them as their “words” hold weight.

I’d love to know your thoughts, as being autistic, I can be more emotional than usual and I find that I must connect with a God who is clearer in what they are saying.

Some quick questions!

Do you guys pray before eating, and if so, how big of a meal or often in a day do you pray?

Also, what would be a good sacrifice to Lord Hephaestus that's affordable?

I am new to hellinisim, I set up my altar in my art studio because I live in a very conservative house. I've been collecting things and offering my art and flowers to Aphrodite. I love how its coming along!

what is the difference between the names for hellenism?

I'm currently trying to write a small guide to Hellenic polytheism (both for myself and others), but I keep seeing different names thrown around for the religion, ESSPECIALY on tiktok. On tiktok mainly I'm seeing people throw around that they have different meanings, and that only Hellenic polytheism means the religion, and that you are a "larper" (god I hate that term as an actual person that larps) if you think they are the same thing.

I've heard the terms:

  • Hellenic polytheism (the one I use and is seen as most "correct")
  • Hellenism
  • Hellenic (commonly used for a person)
  • Hellenismos
  • Hellenistic (time period?????)

Please tell me which one (or ones) is correct and the meanings and uses for the other terms, I want to be fully educated.

Are there differences in how Hellenists worship the gods to how they did in Ancient Greece?

the title pretty much summarizes it, I’m doing a project on Ancient Greece and was wondering if there were any significant differences in how Ancient Greeks would’ve worshipped the gods rather than how we do now. mainly asking this because im trying to make this accurate and use sites that teach about Hellenism however since my project is Ancient Greece, I wanted to make sure I’m getting time accurate information. if possible, recommend some helpful sites that could push me in the right direction?

cat’s drinking the offering water again

my precious baby boy loves sitting on my dresser all day. he has gotten in the habit of drinking the water on my alter i offer to the gods. i know offerings were left to the gods and could be consumed by wild animal, but i’m not sure if that applies to pets. i’m happy he’s drinking water, but he has a whole other bowl full of fresh drinking water. maybe this is another case of cats doing things they’re not supposed to. let me know what you guys think and if you have any pet stories like this

My first time drawing Dionysus and he "smiled"

Honestly, I learned about Dionysus in the worst possible way, and for a long time, I associated him with horrible people and dark periods in my life. Because of this, every time I saw something related to him, I felt repulsion and sadness

Today, I wanted to draw him because for months now, many things have been popping up that remind me of him. Maybe they are signs, I don't know, but I wanted to offer him this drawing as a way to stop associating him with negative things and to show respect

I was concentrating, trying to make the drawing turn out well because I haven't drawn in a year due to this problems I had, and without realizing it, my mind was filling up with those bad memories. But while I was erasing and trying to fix certain details of his face, I noticed that the eraser residue had formed a small smile on his face. I just laughed at this peculiar detail and continued drawing, now with a slightly calmer mind

I also wanted to dedicate this little drawing to other devotees of Dionysus, soooo here it is

What do I do?

I’m moving, and the new place, we aren’t allowed to light candles, or burn incense… how can I still call upon Hestia without lighting a flame? Should I buy battery powered candles? Can I just use fairy lights instead?

first time devotee

hello! ♡ sorry in advance for the long post! i prayed to mother Aphrodite for the first time last night after showing keen interest in her and just polytheism my entire life. i was raised hardcore christian and have religious trauma due to it. my relationship with the church is very.. rocky lol. i recently have felt extremely lost in life (i just turned 20), so much that i picked up a free bible at a gas station a few weeks ago. i have always been a very spiritual girl and i know firsthand that spirits are real. i have experience in tarot despite never properly learning how, but they are always accurate somehow.

that being said, sorry for the yap, but i decided i wanted to finally get into paganism. as i said, im extremely spiritual and have always believed in the universe, even when i was forced into christian religion as a little girl. last night i decided to just try it out after being interested for so long.

i have done research and feel very much pulled towards lady Aphrodite mainly because i am an extremely hyper feminine person myself who has always related femininity and women to myself. i am also a hyperfemme lesbian, so that could also be why haha. i set up a mini alter for her on my dresser and while i was cleansing my space to pray to her, the incense suddenly fell onto my arm and burned me. now, i have a mark there that is perfectly aligned with my beauty mark on my elbow. i just want to know if i did something wrong, or if this was genuinely evil spirits trying to ward me away from going down a more positive path in my life. or possibly, even lady Aphrodite herself.

sorry for the long post, i just feel very passionate about this and want to be always pure in my intentions. this is my alter (i displayed it on my dresser since everything in this corner i heavily associate with my identity). i offered her a few of my own items so we could get to know each other, as well as a cherry that coincidentally is in the shape of a heart. i also offered her a few seashells, pearly marbles, and some water in a seashell just now. please critique me on anything i can do to be honest and sincere with my intentions. id greatly appreciate it. thank you so much again. 💕🌸🪽💋

Thargelia

Hello! I hope you're having a good morning, afternoon, or evening.

I'm fairly new to this and I know that Thargelia is coming up in a few days. Can someone tell me the exact dates or send me the calendar?

And could you give me some advice on the rituals I can do? I know I have to purify on Artemis Day, but I'm not entirely sure what to do. And I'd like to do it properly. Thanks!
