Horrible Fuel Economy
I have a 2017 Ecoboost. I bought it new and I always averaged about 18-22MPG city and around 28-30MPG Highway. 95% of my commute is heavy stop and go metro traffic.
Over the past couple years, that's slowly degraded. I'm average at best 11-13MPG. I'm lucky to get 150-200 miles to a tank now days. My Highway MPG has average around 24-28MPG currently. I have a friend who has a GT and even in the city he gets 17+MPG.
I can't figure out why I'm getting such horrid fuel economy.
I have 93K miles
My air filters changed every 6 months.
Couple years back had an intake/throttle body cleaning done by dealer as part of scheduled maintenance. I do occasionally run it full throttle on highway to try and burn out any buildup.
Very adamant about oil changes every 3K miles (Vavoline)
All scheduled maintenance to the T by the dealership
I only use premium fuel
Had a tune up about 3 years ago. Recently had belts and plugs checked out. All came back perfect.
Ford replaced the EVAP Purge value after about 3 years of ownership due to it malfunctioning (I read this was a common issue). It went out again and I replaced it myself with the new revised part from ford. I haven't had any issues wth it since.
I also read about the dreadful "eco boom" issue with the original high pressure fuel sensor and read ford released a revised version so I ordered it from Ford and replaced it myself out of precaution.
I've never had any check engine lights. It runs and drives as smoothly as the day I bought it. No rough idles or performance issues.
Any ideas?
