And Spain and China gained some of their former power back. The great war started in 1910. Tension In East Asia were sky high. President Taft tried to mediate like Roosevelt did but made it even worse. The tipping point was reached. Japan declared war on China hoping to have its hold over Korea be stronger. The central powers backed China up. And the entente (Britain, France, Russia, Italy, AH, Greece, backed up Japan. China launched the first strike on the Southwest tip of Korea. It was a success as they start a blockade of the peninsula.korea is captured in late 1911. The Qing invade northern Indochina aswell, holding off the outnumbered and spread out French forces. In the spring of 1913, China launches an offensive into a fallen Russia.
European front
Germany, Serbia, and Romania launched a quick and successful invasion of Austria Hungary. Hungary rebelled from the Hapsburgs. Serbia then created forts along the Italian border to keep them at bay. These forts were constructed in Eastern Istria as that land was conquered by Italy. They hold ending Italy's only advances. Romania invaded Bessarabia and met up with Ukrainian rebels. As Germany pushed deeper,Poland,Belarus, and the baltics rebelled.The Swedes took Finland, and after months of seige. They ruled st Petersburg.The central powers made one last push and take Moscow. Russia fell in spring of 1913
Western front
Spain made a quick strike to Lisbon,beating Portugal. Then Spanish troops advanced into Morocco. By 1912,Spain controls all of Iberia and Morocco. Abyssinia takes Somalia and Djibouti and Eritrea while the others are distracted. Spain then launched an invasion in Bordeaux, catching the French, who were focused on holding them off in the Pyrenees off guard. A couple French divisions got encircled.Bordeaux fell. France diverted troops to the north to try and liberate Paris.
Germany invaded through Belgium encircling French troops. Due to this Germany gains the Congo. Mainland France fell. A puppet government was put in place. Paris fell swiftly. Seeing the tides. A coup took place in Greece. Venezuelos becomes king causing Greece to change sides and invade southern Italy. The last fighting took place in Italy. Spain landed in Lazio after taking Sardinia and pushes towards Rome. Germany invaded the North through Piedmont. In mid 1913, The great war ended.
Why America didn't get involved.
Taft, after the blunder. Gets impeached. His VP James Sherman. Would take over. He would likely step down due to the connection to Taft William J Bryan would then take over in 1911. He would distance himself from the Taft situation this becoming quite popular. He would win the election of 1912. He would arrange peace conferences which wouldvfall through until after Rome falls. Roosevelt would influence the peace deal with the 13 points.
