Sole Trading while living oversee

Hi everyone,

I’ve been following this community for a while and was hoping you might be able to point me in the right direction.

I started sole trading in October 2025. In early December 2025, I left the UK and moved to Southeast Asia. I originally wasn’t planning to stay abroad for this long, but circumstances changed and I’m now living overseas.

I’ve spent quite a bit of time researching this — Reddit, various websites, and even Claude — but I’m still struggling to understand how I should approach my UK tax obligations given my situation.

I’ve also contacted a few accounting firms for consultations and am currently waiting to hear back. In the meantime, I’d really appreciate any guidance on what I should be considering, particularly around tax residency, sole trader obligations, and whether/how my overseas move affects my UK tax position.

I’m not looking for free professional advice — I’m more than happy to pay for proper guidance. If you’ve been in a similar situation or know a reliable accountant/tax adviser who specialises in UK expats or people working remotely from overseas, I’d be very grateful for a recommendation.

For context, I currently earn roughly £50–60k per year from two freelance/contracting gigs.

And if this isn’t the right subreddit for this question, apologies — I’d really appreciate it if someone could point me towards the appropriate community.

Thanks in advance!
