Coolest model I've ever painted

I picked this guy up second hand at a swap meet, stripped him down and decided to just go nuts with color. Originally he was going to get a lava base but all that neon osl just sorta happened halfway through - first time I've tried it, ton of fun, learned a lot - and I realized any more sources of glowy color would be too much. So then suddenly it dawned on me to put him next to some trees to make him look properly huge. And then I found that cool rock in my back yard 😁

The model is just so awesome, I'm stoked I got a chance to paint it. Now that it's done, it may be a contender for one of my all time favorite models. I've always loved the Tau models, but I only ever painted one battlesuit in the last 15 years, making this the 2nd Tau model I have ever painted. When I went to that swap meet I wasn't even looking for Taus but I encountered this guy and it was just too cool to leave. I didn't take great before pics, I was too stoked to get it stripped, but the one I did get is what the last pic is.

I'm not sure what to call this piece. "Aurora Lethalis" or "Verdant Ordnance, Evergreens"...but I also really know nothing about Tau lore other than that they are fish-ish. So I'm open to any suggestions 🙂🐠

If you made it this far, you're a gem, hope you have a great day!

Field repair successful

I dropped this sucker and the little toe rivet shot off into the nether zone - outdoors no less, and I didn't notice until we got inside jfc. Anyway, so I had to fix. It ain't perfect, but I think it gives it character 😁
