Hey all,

I got this old GI Joe Cobra tracked vehicle hull as a basis for a 28mm-scale VSF landship

Current thoughts:

Lean into a pulp/Victorian sci-fi aesthetic
Add riveted armor plates, exhaust stacks, and external piping
Build up the top deck into a command platform or turret
The scale actually feels surprisingly usable for 28mm once you imagine it as a heavy industrial crawler or oversized landship.

Things I’m trying to figure out:
Should I keep the exposed tracks or armor them in?
Good ideas for the large opening on top?
Any recommendations for bits/greebles that would help sell the scale?

Would love to see examples if anyone has done similar toy-to-28mm conversions. Kitbash advice, scale tricks, and cautionary tales all welcome. Thanks!

I've made something big and crazy from 3D-printed and original GW parts. This is what an Asuryani faction leader could've been. It's the throne of the Phoenix Prince, an alternate universe Farseer who somehow united all Craftworlds into the Burning Armada. The model's inspiration may be clear for Necron fans.

WIP of a terminator captain kitbash.

• Torso + legs + tactical rock from Darnath Lysander (I love him as a base for terminator characters).
• Powerfist + right arm + gun from the generic terminator captain.
• Pelt from Wolf Guard Terminators (a gift from a grateful Space Wolf perhaps?)
• Shoulder pads + tilting shield + tasset are 3D printed.

I haven't decided on a head yet. The helmet is a placeholder. Any suggestions?

not sure if this fits here but i think it's cool, and idk where to share it. but it's a semi realistic sci-fi pistol. it's literally just an air-soft AR upper on top of a 1911. it feels likes a star wars or blade runner prop to me. (inspired by Ephraim's Omnivore-540 from red rising)

Used some leftover bits from my Daemon Prince to chaosify Bastian Carthalos. Primed and drybrushed. Now getting ready to paint this mfer. Tell me what you think!

Very simply compared to my others, it was a nice refresher to be satisfied with simple models for once instead of taking apart the same mini over and over because it didn’t look right IM LOOKING AT YOU RAIDERS (The new raider kit has been a nightmare for me, such a cool kit, and everything I try to do looks out of place 😂)

But here they are, my terminators for my comically pirate warband!

Not too sold on the railings and “sail” on the champion but itll do for now

A WIP of my Alessio Cortez kitbash.

• Legs + cloth + backpack + head from the lieutenant with powerfist and plasma pistol
• Torso + powerfist + grenades + tilting shield from Endryd Haar (Horus Heresy character)
• Shoulder pads + fist icon on chest are 3rd party (3D-printed)
• Right arm is a Frankenstein's monster: The shoulder and bicep is from a random right arm (from assault intercessors I think). The elbow and wrist is from a bionic left arm (don't remember which kit. The bionic arm from the lieutenant kit was destroyed). The hand is from the Iron Hands upgrade sprue (the one holding a bolt rifle). The plasma pistol is from some left arm holding the pistol.

I know that Alessio uses a bolt pistol but I like Plasma pistols better for officers.
I'm not completely happy with the head but it was the best one I had. Originally I had planned to use Endryd Haar's head, since it was crudely scarred, but it was tiny.

Used some weird terminator bodies off Etsy.

A lil kitbash… as a treat!

I swapped the rifle for a heavy bolt pistol, removed the pistol from his back, and added a matching holster. Finally, I gave this guy the chainsaw he truly deserved. Hope you like it!

Mostly made from an outrider and a landspeeder, some space marine bits given to me by a friend (I don't know what they are) and a random gundam piece.

I'm still touching up the front vent greenstuff. I think some panel details and possibly some vents.
