Hi Reddit, I’m Anthony Dang, and I’m running for California’s 15th Congressional District.

Hi Reddit, I’m Anthony Dang, and I’m running for California’s 15th Congressional District.

I grew up in Foster City, enlisted in the Marines after my brother was killed in action. I was wounded in combat and came home physically and mentally broken. I went to community college, then graduated from UCSD, and then from Harvard with a Master’s in Public Administration. I started a nonprofit to assist veterans, and worked at the Pentagon. I whistle-blew on the defense industry about the fraud and waste I discovered while working for a defense contractor, and was featured in an exposé by More Perfect Union about it. I paid for exposing the truth with my career. I have lived a life of public service, duty, and sacrifice in more ways than one.

A few things I’m focused on:

  1. Getting corporate and dark money out of politics.

  2. Universal healthcare.

  3. Stop genocide in Gaza and end pointless wars.

  4. Cost of living and housing crisis.

Mods have verified that I’m real.

I’ll begin answering questions here on Thursday, May 21 at 6:00 p.m. PDT and will respond to as many as I can.

Now I’m running for Congress to continue fighting by giving California’s 15th Congressional District the representation it deserves, while never taking any corporate PAC money.

People are purposefully being squeezed out of every dollar, so we are just desperate enough to keep surviving and not risk what little we have by shaking things up, when that’s exactly what needs to be done right now. Together we can ensure that healthcare is a human right, housing is owned by people, not corporations, and public officials are actually held accountable. Together, we will topple authoritarianism.

I'm Anthony Dang running for Congress CA-15 AMA

I'm Anthony Dang, running for Congress in CA-15. I grew up in Foster City and still live nearby in Belmont. My dad came to this country as a Vietnam War refugee with nothing, and my mom is permanently disabled and lives in assisted living. My brother Andrew was killed in Ramadi in 2004, and I enlisted in the Marines the day after he died, deployed to Iraq, and was wounded. After that I worked my way from community college to UCSD to a Harvard MPA, then spent years at the Pentagon as a management and program analyst doing oversight on major programs. When I left, I blew the whistle on fraud at a defense contractor, and the retaliation cost me my career, which More Perfect Union covered in their exposé on waste in the defense industry. I'm running because I've watched this system fail my family and working people across our district, and I'm doing it grassroots only with no corporate PACs and no super PACs. Happy to take whatever questions you've got.
