


May 1st I saw this open box on sale. After weighing the pros and cons I decided to go ahead and reserve it almost immediately. Typically MC will send a email saying that the item is ready for pickup. This time I never got a email so I just assumed someone already beat me to it, they’re busy, and or they don’t send emails on open box items since you have to come in anyways.
The next day I see the item is still in my orders section so I contact the online help desk and they call me about 30-45 mins later and confirm the item is ready for pickup!!
I drive a hr to MC, ask a few questions about the monitor if it works and about the warranty. They tell me there’s about 8 months left on the manufacturer warranty. They answer everything else to a T. They then plug in the monitor to confirm it does work and it does turn on. So I Decide to purchase a two year protection plan and off I go on my merry way back home with this monitor.
I get home, make room for my new monitor plug everything in, turn everything on. Except the monitor turns on to a static white screen. I tried using two different DP cables and two different HDMI cables and still nothing.
I once again get in contact with the online support service and they forward my situation with the manager at MC!
Fast forward a few hours later and lo and behold the manager calls me. I explain to him about what happened and just wanted to know what are my options since I wanted a refund since the monitor doesn’t work at all!! Albert says if I can come in today and or tomorrow I can go ahead and exchange the defective monitor for a brand new one!!
Once I heard that I was halfway down the street embarking on another hr journey back to MC.
I get there return the defective monitor and they ask to go ahead and grab a new monitor so they can do the exchange. Get to the monitor section and a MC staffer sees that I’m looking for the ROG monitor and brings out a brand new one!! He checks in with the manager to confirm that it’s a exchange and the manager confirms that they are doing an exchange!
Head back to the check out area, and another staffer confirms with the manager who atp I’m on a first name basis with it feels like 😂, that they are doing an exchange!!
They transfer my two year warranty on top of my brand new three year manufacturer warranty over to the new monitor!!
I always see people getting lucky and unlucky with open boxes at MC. I felt for a period of less than a day I was both at one point 😂
