Soo… Aang has spent years saving the world, rebuilding nations, and trying to figure out what the future is supposed to look like.

And now he has encountered his greatest challenge yet:

In the newest chapter of Kindred, Aang finally starts seriously thinking about marriage and realizes he doesn’t want some grand gesture just because he’s the Avatar. He wants to do something that actually means something to Katara.

So naturally, he goes looking for help 👀

This chapter is also about Aang learning to separate being the Avatar from simply being Aang—especially when it comes to the person he loves. And honestly, I really wanted this part of his journey to feel less like “the Avatar is getting married” and more like a young man trying to figure out how to ask the woman he loves to spend the rest of her life with him.

Also… this man can literally bend all four elements, but apparently proposing to Katara is where he suddenly loses all his confidence.

Hi everyone! I wanted to share my ATLA fanfic, Kindred, which follows Aang and Katara several years after the end of the Hundred Year War.

The war is over, but the world they're trying to build is still full of complications. As Aang works toward the creation of Republic City, he finds himself facing the difficult realities of leadership, political disagreements, and the question of what it really means to build a world where everyone belongs.

Meanwhile, Katara is trying to find her own place in that future. She's always been there for Aang, but as their responsibilities grow, she begins to think more seriously about her own identity and what she wants beyond being the Avatar's partner.

The story explores their relationship as they grow into adulthood, alongside the friendships, political struggles, and changes that come with rebuilding the world after a war.

I'm especially interested in exploring the quieter side of post-war life: how people heal, how relationships change as people grow older, and how building a better world involves more than simply defeating the people who made the old one terrible.

I intend to make a series of the adult Gaang until TLOK timeline so it's going to be long LONG fic. Currently I am working with my Kataang focused fic, which timeline will overlaps with the other Gaang's focused fic later on
