I have a 9-month-old Cavapoo and we’re trying to decide whether to neuter now or wait a bit longer.

He is currently in training for dog reactivity, some mild people reactivity, and separation anxiety, and we’re actually just starting to see really encouraging progress. He is doing better passing dogs on walks, and his alone time has improved from just seconds to a few minutes.

I’ve been reading mixed things about neutering, including that in some dogs it can make them more sensitive or less confident around other dogs or triggers. I know every dog is different, but I’m trying to understand whether it makes more sense to neuter now, or wait until his behavior and training are in a more stable place.

Would love to hear from people who had reactive or sensitive dogs:
- did neutering help, make no difference, or make things worse?
- did timing seem to matter?
- if you were seeing progress in training, would you wait?
