why is all observability going to ClickHouse (and no, I do not work for ClickHouse and am not affiliated in any way)

All observability telemetry seems to be moving to clickhouse. I've been seeing this trend for the last 2 years or so and it's really accelerated in the last 6 months. I had heard its because its scalable and cheap but I didn't really understand how and why. So I spent the last few weeks researching to get to the bottom of this. And the reasons I found were a lot more convincing than I had first thought. I wrote a blog on it if anyone is interested: https://telflo.com/blog/why-observability-keeps-ending-up-on-clickhouse

Let me know if I missed something. Would be cool to hear other people's take on it

Thoughts on the bindplane acquisition?

How are people feeling about bindplane being acquired by dynatrace? Mainly, are people hesitant to adopt it now since they are owned by one of the big observability companies?

And for those who are using bindplane today, have you seen any changes since the acquisition?

My colleague took the wrong train and it ended up getting me my grail watch

I was in London for a work trip and asked my colleague to meet me outside the knightsbridge train station(we had a business meeting close by and it made sense to meet outside the station). So i’m standing there outside this train station which just so happens to be outside a giant Bucherer store with a 15 ft tall rolex logo on it. I wanted to go in and check it out but idk when my colleague is going to get here and i didn’t want to be half way through talking to a SA when he shows up. He calls again and says he took the train going the opposite way (he doesn’t live in a city with a metro system so this is all very new to him) and that he’ll be another 25 mins after he switches trains. So i could keep standing outside or go in and look at some watches, fully expecting to be hit with the “we don’t have anything in stock”.

So i walk in and i knew that these SA’s had seen me standing outside the store for a while now and i felt like i should explain why (i totally didn’t need to in hindsight)but in the moment i blurted out something like “my colleague is running late so i thought i would come in and check out some watches, i’m not looking to buy anything”. And idk if it was me saying that or if it was just my lucky day but they started showing me all sorts of watches they had in stock. Explorer, bluesy, a couple of datejust models, and at last the rootbeer. My colleague pulled up as they were resizing the watch and was like wtf, you bought a rolex in this time??

Couldn’t be happier with it. And i know others have pointed this out too but the pics really don’t do it justice, it looks completely different in person and i can’t stop looking at it. My first rolex!! And what a cool story behind it
