Hello everyone! I recently saw this screw in my tore yesterday, and unfortunately these are brand new tires. Falken Wildpeak ATW4s. Are these patchable?

I took them to a small tire shop already and paid $40 to get them patched because the employee said "this is in a bad spot, It needs a heavy duty patch so I have to charge more, but I can still fix it."

Is this true, or did I get stiffed a bit? Not too experienced in how tires work, so forgive me! In my understanding, this is the shoulder block that is borderline repairable?

How long can I expect this to last, and will it last, or should I get a new $200 tire? :(
