Is it normal for my stylist to cut off 7 inches of hair for removing my "split ends?"

Hi everyone, I went to get my split ends cut although it's been about 2 years since I got it done.

I usually have extremely long hair but I left the salon feeling absolutely horrible because as she was cutting it, I saw huge droves of my hair fall to the ground. My several years of hair growth was cut off and I always thought split ends weren't that much hair..!

What the heck happened?!? Did she cut the extra hair because my split ends were so bad after 2 years?

To me it didn't seem that bad but if anyone has advice to help me stop crying please let me know. Hair is extremely important to me and I feel miserable without my length.

I know it sounds like I'm just whining, but hair is very important to some people for personal reasons or another.

Hi guys! I don't have a photo to attach to this one but I had a work meeting today and only got around 2 hours of sleep...then when I went to do my daily routine, tons of my hair was falling out, my cleanser and moisturizer made my skin look extremely red and patchey...and my foundation went on pretty cakey when it normally never does! Also I've got hooded lids.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I've only just gotten back into makeup as of last year...thank you!
