Is this a normal amount of hair loss?

Is this a normal amount of hair loss? I’ve never noticed this much hair falling out during my showers and I’m worried something’s wrong, my hair is like the most important thing to me and I really really don’t want to be bald or something..

Section #1 was my hair loss after two days of not showering, the first day I had my hair down and the second I had it in a braid all day.

Section #2 was the next day, I had showered the day before and that was the loss my next shower

Section #3 was the third day, again I showered daily

I shower normally every morning, aside from sundays which are my cleaning days at home so I normally keep it in a braid or up in a pony tail. I do sleep in a braid every night, and I use silk pillow cases because I’m trying to keep my hair from breaking and such.
I do shampoo twice every day (I have super greasy hair) but I’ve been doing that for over a year and I’ve never seen this much hair loss. I never sleep with wet hair either, and the only heat I use is my hair dryer in the mornings but on medium warm temp.

I did recently get some highlights and lowlights in my hair professionally but I do that once a year and haven’t seen so much hair loss after, but even so it’s been a month since I dyed my hair.

We are just coming out of winter, and it’s getting dry out again so I’ve been doing more moisturizing stuff for my hair. Maybe the change in weather has something to do with it?

I’m hoping someone can tell me if this seems normal or not, and if it’s not I guess I should go to my doctor? My last check up was over a year ago so maybe I have low something… I’m not sure.

One other thing to note is I’ve notice my nails are getting kind of weak and break pretty easily, I keep them a little long but it’s my natural nails with gel on top to make them a little stronger. I have been doing that for like over two years and only now noticed them getting weaker.

As a side note if anyone knows any good hair growing products let me know lol..

Thanks in advance :,)

Just cowlick or the beginning of thinning/ bald spot on the top/back of my head?

Hey all, so I’ve had a large cowlick on the top since I was a kid. In the attached short video you will see the cowlick causing a little circular patch of skin to show through at the top left hand side.

I never pay much attention to the back of my head but just recently I noticed that my scalp is visible on the middle/ right side of the back of my head which you will see here below the cowlick I mentioned. Is this just an extension of my cowlick causing scalp to show through more than I’ve noticed before? Or is this for certain the beginning of thinning happening? When I grow my hair out my cowlick is very large on the back of my head but I’ve never noticed this much scalp showing until recently. It’s not hardly as noticeable in normal lighting compared to the light directly on my head in this video.

Any and all input would be GREATLY appreciated as I’ve been stressing pretty hard about this. Thank you!

Looking for haircut and routine advice for my hair

I’m looking to change or keep (I don't know, whatever is best) my haircut. Does anyone have recommendations for a haircut that works well with this type of hair or way to maintain it easily? I’m hoping for something that is easier to manage.

Also, I’ll be spending two months this summer in a place with a water shortage. Any tips on haircuts or products that make hair easier to maintain when you have limited water access would be amazing.

Attached is my current hair —thanks in advance for any advice!

Hair extension costs

First time getting weft extensions. For 3 rows they are charging $950 for the hair (not including install). The brand of hair is not one I’ve heard of. I’m curious how much bigger brands like Bellami, hair by Chrissy, or Jz styles would cost by comparison? Is this a good price?

Edit to add: in NY suburbs. the length is 22 inches and it’s the sew in style wefts. I am comfortable paying whatever I just want to know by comparison what the bigger brands charge because I have nothing to compare it to as I have not gotten extensions in over 10 years and back then I did the beaded.

Beginner-friendly curler under $100?

Hi! I’m looking for a curling tool under $100 and would love some honest recommendations.

I don’t style my hair very often, so I’m hoping to find something beginner-friendly and easy to use. I’m mostly looking for soft, natural-looking curls rather than anything super polished.

I’ve seen a few automatic curlers online, but I’m not sure which ones are actually worth it.

For people who have tried budget-friendly curlers, what would you recommend? Are automatic curlers easier for beginners?

Thanks in advance :-D

Help with my waves!

Hi everybody!

So I‘ve been having so trouble with my hair.

I usually blow dry my hair so they look like in the second picture because I have very thin hair and an oily scalp.
But when my hair does get a bit wet like from the rain it looks like in the first picture.

My problem is I can’t let my hair air dry after taking a shower because it just looks all over the place between straight and wavy and I don’t really know how to style it either.

So clearly there is a little bit of movement in the hair but I don’t really know what to do with it.

Which products should I use?
How do I style them after washing?
Etc.

Maybe some of you could help me:)

  3. Blue and pink. Cotton candy
  4. Bright red, green peekaboo
  5. Light blond
  6. Purple

I've done blue but can't find pics

Recommend other colors too! I've been pink majority of my life but willing to try new things

I got a hair cut today. Just wanted to show someone.

I’m slowly working my way to bangs (and maybe an eventual shag). I’m used to layers around my chin but mostly all the same length everywhere else….but I’m working my way up. Im sick of looking the same.

Also is 37 too old for a spiked collar? Someone told me that today and I’ve been salty since. Kinda crushed my vibe.

Call me crazy, but I definitely think this silver shade is softening my complexion… ✨✨✨

I feel like a whole new person!

I've always loved having long hair, but it eventually became so heavy that all it did was lay flat. There was no volume or movement, and so I felt it was time to spruce things up, and I'm so glad I did. I feel absolutely amazing. I still love my new hair even though the curls have since fallen out. I even feel cute in my glasses for once!

Also, I haven't had bangs in like 15 years, so I was kinda nervous, but I'm obsessed!

Life is good!

What are these white things in my hair 😭

I apologize if this isn’t the correct place to ask this question but what on earth are these white things in my hair?!? They get stuck on the hair strand, almost like lice eggs but they’re not. My one other roommate that uses the same shampoo as I also has some in her hair. There’s no itching, I do have light dandruff but it shouldn’t stick to the hair like this right?!?

Hair ruined ($450) - how do I approach this with the stylist?

I’ve been blonde my entire life and always get light, bright, buttery highlights with some warmer tones. The ash/silver blonde doesn’t suit me personally.

I just moved cities and went to a new stylist in town (highly recommended, 20 years doing blondes). Showed them pictures of their !!own work!! as inspiration; so similar to what I always get.

What ended up happening:

  • 3 hours of highlights and lowlights
  • 1st wash and blow dry = dark silver highlights
  • they said they made a mistake with the toner
  • 1st chemical remover and re-tone
  • 2nd wash and blow dry = super dull and dark (another toner error apparently)
  • 2nd chemical remover, no toner
  • 3rd wash and blow dry = warm roots, dull blonde, lots of warmer/orange pieces through my hair, bleach splotches at the roots

6 hours later I was left with a 450 full price bill, darker and duller blonde than I came in with, and extremely damaged hair.

Should I go back to the same stylist and ask them to fix it? Would it be unreasonable to request that for free? I feel so awful saying I’m unhappy but that’s a lot of money, and extremely different to what I asked for.

Or do I find someone else and not risk another mistake?

Thank you!!

The urge to go full silver? Or does my money piece look good as it is…?

I would just like some outside opinions, as I never truly trust myself when it comes to my hair or style. I will like it one moment, then hate the next, often then going crazy and choosing an eccentric hairstyle/dye job. I have had my money piece for a while and it was light blonde, but yesterday I touched up my roots at home and put a silver toner on, which I think looks effin rad, I have always loved silver hair. My questions are:

1: Does my hair as it is look good, does it suit me?

  1. Should I at some point bite the bullet and go full silver? I have in the past, but the upkeep or potential to go wrong is frightening, as anyone who has gone silver/platinum knows. Yet, it is just so tempting, I love the ethereal look of silver hair.

As a note, my hair is just past my shoulders, thick and wavy, and shorter at the front. I just have it clawed back in these pictures.

Any comments or input would be nice. :) thanks!

Is this a bad haircut or am I too critical?

I just paid over $100 at an aveda salon for a curly cut for my daughter. When we left her hair was still wet and now that it’s drying she is feeling unsure of the cut. It looks choppy to me but I’m not a professional stylist. What would you do in this scenario?
