Say I am a licensed concealed carry citizen and I am walking my dog. All of a sudden, an aggressive dog not on leash attacks my dog and is biting it at the throat, can I legally shoot the attacking dog?

Can I buy an FDE colored shotgun in nyc? I know it has to be less than 5 round capacity but does the color matter like it does for handguns? Any help is greatly appreciated
