If I want Fleetari to do his thing and paint my car, do I park it inside the garage or do I park it outside the garage? I already parked it outside and used the cheat menu to skip the wait, and it's still not done

I've been playing Kenshi for a minute now. What the fuck do I do? I love the game, man. I love the mechanics. It's such a cool game. I love the idea, the lore. What do I do? There's nothing to do. What is the end goal here? What am I doing?
