one year later in this subreddit

yoo wsg everyone, I applied for fall 25 cycle, was lowkey OBSESSED with this uni. Like my world was crumbling when I got deferred then rejected while I was managing the commonnapp for other unis plus uae asw. Who knows maybe nyuad didn't think I was witty and creative enough for their liberal arts style education and I was fit for something more stem based.

Luckily, I has a ton of back-up unis and didn't miss a single deadline. I'm now at Khalifa University ! Having the best time of my life doing the engineering stuff I used to dream about.

It's the honest truth that not everyone will get into nyuad despite amazing stats, there are factors wayy beyond our control for a small university cohort. And surely, Allah is the best of planners.

Nothing I did has gone to waste tho, I did extracurriculars in highschool not for nyuad or KU but to genuinely explore and build myself and I can say I did that successfully. Those extracurriculars have led me to work in competitions and clubs. I only see more growth for myself in the coming future.

Remember to NOT tie ur goals to a uni, have goals such as

" I want to work on competitive robotics"

"I want to work with research in a lab"

etc and find a uni that suits that. not the other way around.

I wish everyone here the best of luck ! Remember that your passion and perseverance will get you further than a university name. Success isn't limited to one university

some hope gng

  1. their interview and acceptance timeliness is random, and nothing is final until the 15th

  2. Interviews came late, and interviews MAY still be coming. This could possibly mean that the cohort isn't 100% full yet, and they interviewed a ton of ppl asw. This wouldn't be the case if it was only 1-5 seats.

  3. The professors are BUSY. it seems like they don't have many employees who are solely handling admissions. Hence, processing so many interviews and finding the time is hard. The professors are teaching + maybe handling graduate admissions + UG interviews, so maybe there would be some last-minute decisions they make

  4. TINY possibility they might even extend the decision date, it happened in previous cycles for postgrad because they are so overloaded w the work

  5. So far, there is absolutely NO correlation between when you applied, affecting when you get an interview and when you get accepted. Everyone got different dates, and it's normal. The university is also going with their flow, and they don't rule on timings, so it just depends on how strong you are as an applicant

To conclude, if you were interviewed, you have a chance because they saw potential in you. There weren't many acceptances except exceptional students from jan-may, so the majority could be accepted this June.

if you weren't interviewed, there's a chance they are still interviewing ppl as I said, their team is small, and they go with the flow and their availability of professors.
