I was just on a direct flight from Manila to Vancouver. Upon landing, I received an email which states "Due to a technical issue with the aircraft, some checked luggage was left behind to ensure a safe departure". I spoke to the baggage claim counter representative to further inquire on the issue. He explained that over 200 pieces of luggage where left behind due to a loading issue; didn't sound like it was safety related. He was not empathetic; it sounded like it was a frequent practice. Thought just to warn others of this - I heard AC had a reputation of doing this in the past but hoped it got better. Is this happening frequently to others? Perhaps I will no longer take checked luggage or book with Philippine Air on my next trip.
