My spouse and I have 5 total corgis with lots of land to play on. While we of course realize they are “our” corgis, they do “belong” to each of us. Marie, my cardigan is definitely my dog. Zwei, this Pembroke, is my spouse’s dog.
Why is that important you might ask? Because for reason of disability and chronic illness, we have slept in separate bedrooms for nearly 16 of our nearly 25 years married. We are quite happy this way. Well, I went to bed earlier, Marie cuddled up next to me. Naturally, I expected that Zwei was still in the living room watching TV.
I start hearing scratching noises, low rumbles, almost a growl. Marie almost never growls. Turn on my flashlight and sure enough, Marie is fast asleep and not dreaming. But the bed is moving. I look around and when I peer over the side of the bed, this man here scared the life out of me.
He didn’t mind…
TL;DR: the monster under the bed is real
