Best Store/Associate for Running Shoe Fitting?

Hey y'all, I'm somewhat new to running consistently (15-25 miles per week recently) and I've always had difficulty finding comfortable shoes for running. I'm currently using Kuru Running Shoes (known for well-padded heels), as over the past few years I've used their training shoes as my daily shoe for comfort. However, Kuru isn't exactly known for being a running shoe company, and I can sort of tell when I'm running that they just don't feel quite as dialed as I'd like them to feel.

I'm interested in potentially trying some different shoe brands, but also want to get something that would be right for my feet. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best stores, or even potentially a specific associate, that I should go to for specialized advice in picking out a new running shoe? Or maybe you recommend a specific brand of shoe, etc? I'm open to any and all advice!

Some context I think is important:

  • Three out of four of my sesamoid bones have been fractured for years and have never really fully healed. As a result, I deal with sesamoiditis flare ups, which causes me to heal-strike more than I probably should when running - this is why I've been wearing Kuru shoes with the extra heel padding.
  • I'm doing a triathlon later this year and will be increasing my average run distances over the next few weeks/months.
  • More recently, my feet have actually been holding up well to the mileage, so I'm inclined to maybe try something that's not necessarily geared towards the foot pains I deal with.
