TLDR: I'm eligible for Dutch citizenship next month but my income can't support my husband for a spousal/partner visa because he's the bigger earner
The Longer Story:
My husband, 3 kids, and I live in Tilburg and are buying a house here. We are currently here on my DAFT visa (we're both American), but the kids and I are eligible for my Dutch citizenship via the option procedure next month because my mom is Dutch and I simply lost it a few years ago when I didn't reapply for my Dutch passport.
My husband currently works for a Dutch company as an engineer and is working here under my DAFT visa sponsorship. I can't work in my normal capacity yet as an ergotherapeut because I need to pass my B2 level of Dutch first and we've only been here for 11 months so far - I'm at B1 though and working super hard to get it!
Since I'm eligible next month to apply next month for my and the kids' citizenships, I had planned to. But then I read about the income requirements and realized that almost all of our income is coming from my husband because I can't work as an ergotherapeut yet.
Is this going to cause an issue in transferring his visa to a partner visa? I'm not sure his job would sponsor him, but I only make around €1200/month with my business right now because I've been taking so many Dutch classes and we have a 1 year old at home.
I did call IND and they were absolutely no help and didn't really know what to say, so 😅🤷🏼♀️.
I don't want to stay on the visa unless necessary, but I'm also not sure how else to go about this.
