This was a few years ago. I went to sell my old camera gimbal on eBay. A guy in CA (I'm in WA) purchased it and paid, and I shipped it to the address he provided.

I got a notice from UPS that there were multiple failed deliveries and the buyer contacted me and said the address was their business and that UPS was trying to deliver it outside of business hours (which he said was 9-5). I checked and their delivery attempts were all between 11AM and 3PM. I then googled the address and it was at like a worn down strip mall and the address he gave appeared to be an empty/abandoned section with padlocked chains on the door (Google street view possibly outdated, can't remember if I checked the date).

The buyer contacted me again and asked me if I could change the delivery address, to which I told him, obviously I can't do that as it opens up a can of worms (if sellers could just change the address they could just ship the item to their friend or something and claim it was delivered right?). He keeps insisting that I can and need to change the delivery address to his home.

I got a weird feeling like if I did that, it might create a situation where he could get the item but then also successfully request a refund or something? Was I just being paranoid? I told him I was just going to refund him, which I did and the gimbal was shipped back to me. Ever since I've just been more weary of eBay because it felt very shady and in general was an annoying hassle.
