Does TRADOC command hurt BN/BDE command track later?
LG officer here. I completed my LT time in an ABCT, including two CTC rotations and a EUCOM rotation.
Right now, I’m weighing a 1:1 TRADOC command I was offered as I head into CCC. My wife, and honestly our dog too, have had a tough time with leaving the only home they’ve known, so I’m strongly considering the offer to avoid another PCS and give us some stability. My main concern is how this might impact my long-term career. If I take a TRADOC command as a CPT, will that limit my competitiveness or opportunities for BN and BDE command outside of TRADOC later on? I want to be in a position down the line where I can enforce and uphold standards that are important to me, and have the opportunity at BN level to implement the things I’d be missing out on as a TRADOC CO CDR.
Would appreciate any insight from those who’ve taken a similar path or seen how this plays out.
