Insurance lawsuit
Hi reddit, so like, im contemplating on getting a lawyer, but i also would like to hear your guys thoughts on this. Last summer, I was involved in a 3 way car crash in phoenix AZ, and the car in front of me hit the car in front of them before the collision with my car and the car in front my vehicle. Now my policy covers 100k per person up to 300k per accident. The guy at the very front told me he did feel 2 hits, the first one being significantly worse than the second, albeit because I noticed after the sudden stop that there was an accident and lost half the space in between and the car in front of me because I only noticed to late. I was driving a smooth 35 an hour and did hit my brakes, but like i said, didnt notice untill later that they already crashed, and on my end, it did look like they were still driving and had no indication that there was a crash except a sudden stop. The car in front of mine didnt even have working tail lights that showed they stopped. Now the guy in the very front, who told me, and the police, and its documented in the police report that he felt 2 hits, is suing my insurance 157k dollars and in the letter says that future medical expenses are inevitable aswell because that is how much it cost him to get medical treatment. Baisically, suing my insurance for the full accident. His car was not totaled, the vehicle in front of me was not totaled, my car unfortunately, was totaled, not because of super severe damage, but it did leak fluid and my insurance didnt wanna pay to fix that so they gave me a check and went home. Would it be wise to get my own lawyer at this point considering this is a 3 way car crash, and that the first incident was going to be treated separately or let the insurance company deal with this first. Not looking for any finger pointing or blame game, only went into detail with the accident to paint a better picture and if you have any questions I will answer in the comments, but I do want to know your thoughts if getting a lawyer wohld be wise at this stage or if im overthinking it
