Quantitative Reasoning: Which professor to pick? (Julie Brown vs. Ashlee Allen)

Hi everyone! I’m registering for Quantitative Reasoning and I’m trying to decide between two professors, but I have a few doubts about their RateMyProfessor profiles.

  1. Julie Brown: She is listed at GSU Perimeter College (Clarkston), which is great, but she only has one review. It’s a 5/5, but I’m a bit nervous about the small sample size. Has anyone taken her class recently? How is her teaching style?
  2. Ashlee Allen: I found a profile for an Ashlee Allen with excellent ratings (4.6/5 with 15 reviews), but the profile says Lanier Technical College. Since the name matches the one on the GSU schedule exactly, I’m wondering if she recently moved to GSU or teaches at both. If it’s the same person, she seems like a great pick, but I want to be sure.

Has anyone taken Quantitative Reasoning with either of them? I’m a Music major and I’m looking for a professor who is clear and helpful with the material.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Best Courses for Music Majors

Hi everyone! I’m a Music Major currently registering for the fall semester and I’m looking for some advice on my Area Technology, Mathematics, and Sciences of the core curriculum.

I’m torn between Introductory Geology and Astronomy of the Solar System. I noticed that both have different sequences, and I'm trying to figure out which one might be more manageable or interesting for an arts major.

• If you’ve taken either, how was the workload?
• Does one sequence feel more intuitive or interesting than the other?
• Are there specific professors you'd recommend (or suggest avoiding)?

For context, I’ve already completed:
• English Composition I & II
• General Psychology
• American Government
• Global Economics
• Music, Culture, and Society

I'd also love to hear any recommendations for "hidden gems" or elective courses in other areas that you think are worth taking at GSU.
Thanks in advance for the help!
