I (30m) was visiting my mum yesterday as I’m about to go on holiday with my gf and her family. While we’re away, I plan to propose, while I was at my mums house, my gfs mother called me and I picked up the phone saying “hello, mum” and she replied “hey, son” and my mother got visibly annoyed and after the call she stated asking me why I call her that. I explained that it was because we’re quite close. But my mum blew up. Stated saying she had no right and that I think she’s a shit mother all because of this. The last thing I said to her was “it’s not that deep” and she said “have a nice life” so am I the asshole in this situation?
