Montante Video: redux

IT'S DONE! I redid the whole thing and made it half as long.

Jesus fucking Christ video editing is hard lol.

But yes, please give it a gander and let me know what y'all think. My goal on making this was to give more of a survey-level exploration of movement as a concept. Something I struggled with last time as I was trying to talk a bit too exacting in the way I think the feet should be placed, all the while ignoring the discussion on how the sword influences everything I do. And, while I stand by a lot of what I said, reviewing my own footage and going back to the sources made it clear that I needed to reexamine how I look at this stuff. Nobody's done learning the basics, even as far into this art as I am.

I also think I needed to be more descriptive as opposed to prescriptive in how I talk about things, and trying to give more context on why I move the way I do, without telling people down to individual degrees how to place their feet. This is all up to interpretation, after all, and I think I made a good enough case here on why I do things the way I do while still leaving room to let other people look at it in their own way.

So, yeah, let me know what y'all think. I'm keeping this one unlisted for now to get some feedback from the community before I make anything available for the general public.

Montante Footwork primer feedback

Looking for feedback.

To preface this, I come primarily from a KDF background, and I'm new to Destreza. Most of my interpretation is going to be colored by that, though I don't think I'm entirely off-base with how I'm looking at things. I'm also entirely new to video content creation.

I've been working on interpreting Iberian two-handed sword for a couple of years now, and while I'm far from the highest authority on it, I think I know enough to share some thoughts on things. The basics of it, anyway.

I've also noticed that not a whole lot of content creators looking at this devote much time to describing the foundational movements and principles when they post videos. This is probably because Greatswords are weapons for more advanced practitioners, but not everyone who picks up the big sword is at that level. Sometimes they're new, or they have experience with something different and don't intuitively know the adjustments such a weapon asks of the fencer.

With that in mind, I rambled out some thoughts on footwork. Something not often discussed but extremely important with such a big weapon.

Feel free to give constructive feedback. It's my first time trying to tape a lesson for folks outside my club. And if there's anything I'm woefully wrong about, let me know under this post as opposed to the video comments, itself (and please be kind in doing so).
