I’m in a surgical/medical subspecialty private practice and part of an IPA that can give us EPIC Community Connect with all the fees waived.
Does anyone here use Epic strictly outpatient, including the billing side?
Would love to hear how you like it. How’s the workflow, billing, support, etc.? Any major downsides or things you wish you knew before switching?
Especially interested in hearing from other private practices or surgical/procedural specialties. Thanks!
Location: California. I was introduced to an architect via email because I was considering opening my own medical practice. The architect reached out to me, but I never responded to his email and never hired him or entered into any agreement with him.
A couple of weeks later, he emailed me again. This time, without my knowledge or permission, he included my clinic manager (who works for my current employer) on the email. I never gave him my clinic manager’s contact information, and I believe he found it on his own.
As a result, my employer learned that I was planning to start my own practice many months before I intended to disclose it. This created an confrontation situation at work and may negatively affected my employment relationship.
My questions are:
Does the architect have any potential legal liability for disclosing this information?
Could there be claims such as negligence, invasion of privacy, interference with prospective economic advantage, or any other cause of action?
Does the fact that I never hired or responded to the architect make his actions more problematic?
Even if I don’t have a viable lawsuit, is this the type of conduct that could justify a complaint to the State Architects Board?
I’m not looking to pursue a frivolous lawsuit. I’m simply trying to understand whether this was merely unprofessional conduct or whether there are any legitimate legal remedies available.
