Is anyone else exhausted by the New Haven mega-landlord monopoly?
It is genuinely infuriating watching these massive property conglomerates and absentee mega-landlords sit on prime real estate while doing absolute zero for the actual community. They jack up commercial and residential spaces, let buildings sit half-empty or poorly maintained, and act like they own the skyline while contributing nothing to the local culture or people actually trying to build something here.
What makes it worse is that there is zero accountability. No real oversight, no pressure from the city that actually sticks, and no one holding their feet to the fire while small businesses and independent operators get priced out of existence. It’s an insulated ecosystem that protects corporate portfolios at the expense of everyone else living and working on the ground level.
Honestly? I hope the whole inflated market implodes. Let the over-leveraged portfolios crash, let the speculative bubbles burst, and let these corporate entities lose everything they squeezed out of this city. We need a complete reset from the top down.
