I'm kinda disappointed with the "Tomorrowverse" animated movies
I know I'm kinda late to the party considering the last movie of this universe came out on 2024 but I didn't know about them and was kinda excited to have a new universe to enjoy after the "New 52" movies and Young Justice, however, so far I'm feeling kinda disappointed.
I must say I haven't read any comics besides a little bit of The New 52's Justice League, so take all of this with a grain of salt as I'm not a comic expert, is just my opinion.
So far I've only seen up to Green Lantern and maybe I'm miss remembering the New 52 movies and Young Justice but compared to them these movies feel rushed and inconsistent. From what I read online maybe some of the things that feel off are some kind of set up for the final arc which I know is an adaptation of Crisis on Infinite Earths but still there are some things that I feel like could have been handled a little better.
For example in Superman: Man of Tomorrow Lobo appears, tells Superman he has a bounty, gets his ass beaten and then just leaves? Like, if this is a new universe where Superman is just starting to come out to the world, how is it someone out there already knows about him? Plus Lobo says he never knew of a superpowered kryptonian so is not like the powers gave him away.
Then in Justice Society: World War II, Flash seems to be just starting to know Superman, however, when he travels to the parallel Earth he suddenly knows all of Superman/Clark Kent's life. I saw a post asking about this and someone said this Flash was the same from the New 52 arc so he had all those memories but then he doesn't recognize Wonder Woman nor the other heroes?
Other things that kinda seem inconsistent are Wonder Woman calling the atlanteans "aquamen" even though they seem to know about each others civilizations and Flash returning to the same instant he left his Earth, but these could be explained by it being a different Earth and Speed Force shenanigans. Still, I feel like they should be better explained inside the story.
In Batman: The Long Halloween I feel like we are shown a Batman that is still green, not the most agile as shown at the start of Part One when he is trying to catch up with Catwoman, not the best detective as indicated by multiple characters throughout the whole story (even himself) and also not the best fighter as he is constantly bested by the villains, which makes me wonder: How are all those supervillains captive in Arkham? Cause I feel like this Batman would have gotten killed pretty easily by any of them. Then at the end of the story him and Catwoman finally "manage" to beat the bad guys even though nothing changed considerably for them neither are we shown any kind of preparation.
Also, at the end it seems like Batman lets Holiday free which feels kinda out of character.
And finally Green Lantern: Beware My Power which felt pretty weak story wise. John goes from having PTSD to easily beating Hal/Parallax without any kind of internal journey, Shayera feels extremely stupid and impulsive and also the fact that "Hal Jordan the greatest Green Lantern in the universe" gets simply corrupted by Parallax feels lame. There's also some inconsistencies like Shayera first saying Thanagar got transported into Rann's system then saying Rannians teleported their planet to Thanagar system to conquer it and some minor details like John's suit showing on a scene where he didn't have the ring.
I must say that as corny as it may seem I did like the scene of John reciting the Green Lantern's oath and manifesting his full suit, it was pretty cool.
All in all I'm already halfway through the list so I can't say the movies are unwatchable or that they aren't enjoyable, is just that I was expecting more. I also hope the final arc is worth it.
Please don't crucify me in the comments, I'd like to hear your opinions.
