Tried fixing mirror, lead to other issues

I tried fixing the mirror in my sister’s Forester and it ended up leaving me with other issues.

My sister originally backed up out of the garage too close to the edge, chipping off a bit of the plastic part of her mirror. Her car got sent to a shop and they fixed the plastic damage. However, now the mirror part wasn’t able to move to the correct spots to cover her blind spots.

I took apart the mirror, and couldn’t tell what was wrong with it. I figured maybe it was the motor in the mirror itself but I wasn’t able to figure it out in time before she had to leave to a friend’s. I disconnected the battery and reconnected it several times during the process. I thought I had to take off the inner door trim. I took it off and I was going to get a 10mm to uninstall the mirror as a whole but I ended up losing the 10mm in the frame of the door. I haven’t gotten it back and couldn’t think of a solution at the time. So, I put her mirror back together and that was that.

Later, she said that the mirror adjuster won’t work for adjusting the driver side nor passenger side. The garage door opener on her mirror won’t work either.

Any tips or helpful information would be greatly appreciated!
