Midea U 8 or 12k question

I currently have a 8k unit. My previous older units were 6k non inverter units that couldn't really keep up with keeping the room cool. The room is about 150 sq feet with high ceilings and garbage insulation top for black tar roof. with afternoon sun. Boston MA area, on hot days 90+ degrees outside the interior can be 10 degrees hotter.

The 8K unit seems to week we'll, runs most of the time without thrilling down to own and I haven't had mold issues, run with the fan on for an hour post use. With the recall I can replace it, with the 12K unit from Costco that is on sale for less than the 8k costs. According to some web sites and the square footage with the additional curling insulation info it villain I could go upto a 10k unit? Not sure if that math is making but would the larger unit be able to throttle down enough or would it Better to spend more on the lower BTU model. Going to be 97 degrees outside tomorrow so guess I need to do something sometime soon.

Thanks for your opinion

Finally submitted recall

Had my 8000 U+ for 2 years and still looks mold free with no repair but decided to get the rebate. Getting what I paid for it which is more than the current sale price of the 12K model on sale at Costco. Not 100% sure of I'll care that it isn't a plus model. Not bad to make some money on a 2 yr old AC.

My room isn't giant but I'm on the top floor of a 3 story building with a flat black tar roof and the 8k kept it cool but did stay on a lot. Thinking the 12 shouldn't be to much overkill and the new air-conditioners don't need to run at full power line the old school ones.

Looking forward to the extra headroom of the bigger model. Going to be in the 90s next week here in Boston while today is 55. Guess I can't wait for the rebate to arrive but I'll just use it for something else.
