Hey all,

I’m trying to figure out a good KVM setup and could use some advice.

Setup

- 1 ultrawide monitor

- 1 desktop PC (older, HDMI/DP + USB-A)

- Multiple laptops (connecting&charging! one at a time via 1 USB-C cable )

What I want

Easy switching between desktop ↔ laptop

Share peripherals:

-mouse

-keyboard

-webcam

- some extra USB devices (e.g. retro gaming cartridge reader)

-Prefer to hide the KVM under the desk so a remote button or keyboard hotkey would be great

-Nice to have: Ethernet via the dock/KVM

Questions

  1. Should I get a KVM with many USB ports, or just use a USB hub connected to the KVM?

  2. Is it worth “overbuying” now, or can setups be extended later?

  3. Any recommended models for my use case?

What I’ve looked at

- Cheaper option from [UGREEN](https://amzn.eu/d/0iWGlfME)

- [AV Access iDock C10](https://amzn.eu/d/076c7kVQ) (but seems more aimed at dual monitors) (Any issue that it is for 2 monitors?)

Constraints

Budget: \~€200

Location: Europe

Open to any suggestions or alternative setups as well. Thanks!
