I recently caught a flea in my house and while it’s not ideal (I already have treatments scheduled for this week), I’ve become fascinated by the one I put under a microscope. In the video you can see recently ingested blood in the flea and the longer I watched it I noticed a singular long hair-like structure transferring small amounts of that blood into a larger chamber where it would mix around in some other fluid. What’s more interesting is that I caught it on a piece of duct tape and stuck a cover slip on top and this video was taken maybe 4 hours after the flea stopped moving. It should be airtight under the cover slip and the flea should definitely be dead by now but the blood it ate is still trying to cycle around in there. I guess I don’t have a direct question, more looking for any general info from anyone who might know how the internals of a flea function. I’ve tried looking through various google results and research articles (if the answer was in those it was way too technical for me to recognize) and haven’t found an answer.

Can anyone identify what these droppings might have come from? We have a lot of lady bugs getting in the house right now and I’m leaning that it’s from those. I’m looking for some peace of mind and hopefully confirmation that it’s not bed bugs. My wife’s been waking up with bites that look more like mosquito bites and I don’t seen any other signs on the sheets or mattress that they’re coming from bed bugs but if it is I’d like to get a jump on handling it. Photo is of a bedroom wall about 4’ up and 6” away from a window.
