I barely missed qualifying hours for EI due to documented medical reasons. Would have been well over the limit if not for this. Can I still qualify?
I had 575 hours and need 595 in Ontario to qualify for EI. I was offered full time work during the winter months but because of lung issues caused by my mother painting the house and not ventilating at all in the winter, I was documented at 60% of what my lung capacity should be, and this test was done in march, well after the peak of my lung issues.
Since I was probably at like 20% lung capacity having an allergic reaction to paint fumes all winter, I was unable to take the full time position and in stead opted for part time work at the same employer. Had I been full time, I would have easily been over the amount of hours required, but could not take a full time job around cleaning products with my lungs already barely working.
I got a note from my doctor basically saying I am "suspected of having reactive airway disease, was documented at 60% lung capacity, and this impacted my ability to work in the winter months", and just finished submitting an appeal at service Canada.
What are the odds I get the appeal approved? I very easily would have had enough hours if not for this.
Another thing worth noting is I have a registered corporation which I have put probably a couple hundred hours into during the qualifying period but after investing $4000 into it and almost being able to get it off the ground, I fell ill and ran out of money only working part time in our godforsaken economy. I don't really have any proof of hours worked for this venture though.
As it stands I am now broke and cannot find another job for the life of me in our aforementioned godforsaken economy. Please help.
