Sauna wood stove

Hi all, I'm a hobby welder and craftsman and just got my hands on this amazing piece of 12 in. Square tubing.

I also have blueprints to a professional style sauna wood stove and they mention 1/8 to 1/4 in. steel thickness for best results.

What are your personal opinions on using this one with 1/2 in. Thick walls, with a rock basket surrounding it?

I'm thinking slower heat dispersion, but otherwise I don't see what else it could be other than it being heavier...

Edit : Breaking news, and if we're being anal with size and specs, I just got a 10 inches large (also 1/2" thick) tube as well for free. Which volume would you recommend for a 3-4 people small outdoor sauna?
