Dewey’s life path doesn’t make sense

Disclaimer: I’m not here to talk about the limited presence of Dewey in the revival, I completely understand that’s how things worked out circumstance wise and don’t judge anyone for that decision

This is just my personal opinion so feel free to disagree but I feel as if the direction that they took Dewey in terms of what he’s doing in life doesn’t make sense. And this isn’t just from the new series, but from the OG series finale where it’s stated that Dewey’s supposed to have the fun and luxurious life. That just doesn’t make sense to me considering the different experiences that he went through. Like when he found out he wasn’t gonna be the youngest anymore, he obviously originally wasn’t happy but he learned to accept it and be a good brother to Jamie. Hell, it’s literally the penultimate episode of the series (right before its said that Dewey gets the easy life) where Dewey realizes how little attention Hal and Lois gave to him as a kid, and instead of being resentful, he literally manipulates them into throwing a bday party for Jamie to change their ways. The other big example is with the buseys. Dewey really wanted to be in the krelboynes, but when Malcolm screwed his test results, instead of working hard to get back to the normal class, he chooses to stay in because he knows he has to do whats right and help those kids, even if it disappoints him. And even when he has the chance to finally leave, he literally fakes a tantrum to stay in the class.

Overall I just feel like Dewey’s main arc throughout the series was to accept his bad circumstances but use his gifts to help others. That’s why I don’t think he should be some touring musician- instead running a non-profit like Malcolm does, except gearing to something like helping Sped kids learn through music is something that I feel like would line up with his development much more.
