The movie has the typical story of the child wanting to follow their dreams despite what their parent thinks. Later in the movie, the child realizes that their parent had been keeping track of their success despite the rift between them. Might be a kid's movie, but I'm not sure. There's probably a lot of movies like this, to be honest...
