Is he dangerous?
My dog is half dogo Argentino, and I’m posting here because his overall personality seems more dogo than his other breeds that are smaller percentages.
He likes women a lot, but is wary of strange men, and overall defensive of our house and property. For the record, I am a woman.
A week ago he escaped.
He has a tracking collar, so I tracked him to an area right by our house where we walk often. When I found him, he was standing about 15 feet from an older man, who was holding out his arm with his keys in his hand, and I admit I was already panicked while looking for him, and felt even more fear when I saw him so close to a strange man.
Anyway, while he was just looking at the man, as soon as I jumped out of my car, he ran at the man and started jumping at/on him. It was not friendly.
I grabbed him and threw him in my car and went back to check on the man. My dog continued barking at him from the car.
The man had what he called a “nick” on his knuckle that was bleeding. He did not bite him in the sense that his mouth closed on him, but his tooth caught his knuckle. He kept saying that he thought my dog was friendly because he was just standing there and seemed calm.
In the end, the man said he was fine and walked away, but I am still distressed. I am in the process of ordering him a custom muzzle.
Is he a dangerous dog???
