What to do to make it less messy and more defined?

I used nym leave-in and la extreme sport gel. I hover diffused until it’s crunchy and cup(?) diffused afterwards. I‘ve tried using nym curl talk mousse and gel, both separately and together, but they just made my hair sticky and frizzy. It doesn‘t hold for even just one day.

What do I do to make it more defined and less messy? Or am I forcing it??
