Hi, recently bought some Mezcal 29x2.1 for my giant Revolt 1 2022, they feel great but they measure 54.5 at the widest point, which does make me a bit uncomfortable at the rear (while sprinting it rubs)
So i thought ill try a more gravel-y tire, like the Terreno
I didnt want to overshoot with the 50c (was afraid that they would also measure like 52, then again there would have been tiny clearance left), so went with the 45c and they masure 44mm? :(( (on 25mm inner with rims)
Can someone help? What do you run for coarse loose gravel? How wide do they measure? Im getting a bit frustrated spending money on the wrong sizes…

I wanted to try running 29x2.1 Mezcals on my Giant Revolt 1 2022 in size S, on the front there is no problem at all but the wider than specified Mezcals on 25mm rim, measuring 54.5mm just dont cut it in the rear… so then i thought lets try the Terreno T30 700x45… (i imagined they would also measure more than 45 by 1-2mm and I will have some nice space in the rear so i dont ever need to worry about clearance)
So yeah, the Terreno measures 44mm and it looks soo tiny, almost like my Maxxis Receptor’s 700x40c (measuring 42.5mm on the stock 25mm rim)

So 90+€ s for nothing? What do you think? Should i sell the 45 and get the 50? Will the 50 measure as 52 or 49? Xd im really confused how to trust these sizings..

(With the Mezcal on the rear while sprinting i can feel the tire rubbing, and the small “hairs” have less than a mm tolerance to touch the frame)
